The vision and inspiration behind Dharma Mandir — a “People’s Guru” dedicated to love, peace, harmony, righteousness, faith in God, and community service.
“We would like to awaken the minds of our devotees and free them from the shackles of materialism, illusion and misery. No longer will they have short-term bursts of happiness but sublime lives, filled with gratitude and purpose, guided by divine anecdotes from our Spiritual Leader”

organised satsangs & outreach
Guruji Vyas Sharma is the vision and inspiration behind Dharma Mandir. Under his leadership, Dharma grew into a dynamic spiritual organisation with organised satsangs worldwide.
Arriving in London on 17 September 1963, Guruji was only 18 years old — already an established Pundit in Guyana. In London, he pursued his A-Levels at Norwood Technical College followed by accountancy at South West London College, while continuing to perform weddings and pujas across the city.
Traditional titles never defined him — his calling was always service. With quiet devotion and genuine compassion, he has travelled across the world, fostering love, peace, harmony, righteousness, faith in God, and community service. He is truly a “People’s Guru”, reaching out to all, irrespective of age, class, colour, or creed.
Inspired by Guruji’s vision, Dharma Mandir is more than a place of worship — it is a spiritual home and a community built on unity, compassion, and collective strength.
From a growing circle of devotees to a global spiritual community rooted in service, unity, and faith.
Early 1970s
Dharma Mandir’s journey began as a rapidly growing community of devotees gathered around the teachings of a young spiritual leader — Guruji Vyas Sharma.
1980s
In the ’80s, devotees were brought together across the UK as Guruji travelled from home to home, performing satsang and pujas — building faith, family, and togetherness.
1990s
The community spirit strengthened throughout the ’90s — forming the foundation of “Caring is Sharing” and leading to the creation of the Dharma Foundation.
Hired halls & large events
After years of grand-scale pujas and events in hired halls — including venues such as St Peters Church in Church Street — the Dharma Family decided it was time for a permanent home.
2001
Guruji founded and inaugurated the first Dharma Mandir in Enfield, as the Dharma Foundation expanded with devotees from around the world.
July 2011
Dharma Mandir became a registered charity, strengthening its structure and enabling it to reach more of society through service and spiritual development.
Today & beyond
Created as a safe space to leave worries behind and immerse in satsang and Guruji’s pravachans, Dharma Mandir has touched countless lives worldwide over the past two decades — and will continue to do so for generations to come.
