The Dharma family

A vision that grew across generations

Our sister temple in Enfield was created through the vision and blessings of Guruji Vyas Sharma. Under his leadership, Dharma developed into a dynamic spiritual organisation, bringing devotees together through satsangs in the United Kingdom and around the world.

That same spirit of worship, care, learning and service inspired a new home for the Dharma family in Newport.

Our spiritual leader

Guruji Vyas Sharma

Guruji arrived in London on 17 September 1963, already an established pundit at the age of eighteen. Alongside his studies, he continued performing weddings and pujas throughout London.

His life’s work has centred on love, peace, harmony, righteousness, faith in God and service to the community. His compassionate, inclusive approach has reached people of every age and background.

The Enfield foundations

Caring is sharing

The Dharma Mandir journey began in the early 1970s as a growing community gathered around Guruji’s teachings. During the 1980s, Guruji travelled with devotees from home to home to hold satsangs and pujas across the UK.

This caring community spirit grew through the 1990s into the Dharma Foundation. After years of large pujas in hired halls, the first Dharma Mandir was founded and inaugurated in Enfield in 2001.

Dharma Mandir Newport is acquired

The Newport Mandir building was acquired on 4 December 2022. From that day, devotees came together with a shared purpose: to prepare a welcoming spiritual home for the community.

Inauguration

Three months of devoted seva

Pandit Anand Khusul transported the murtis from Croydon and, with the dedication and practical help of devotees, the Mandir was prepared between 4 December 2022 and 25 February 2023. Dharma Mandir Newport was formally inaugurated on 25 February 2023.

“Individually we are zero, but together we are dynamite!”

The speed and spirit of this achievement embody Guruji’s enduring message: when we work together in faith and service, remarkable things are possible.
